Pharmalucence To Launch Bosch Fill-Finish Isolator Line

The drug manufacturer sets up as a CMO with a new Boston BioTech Cluster-based facility.
Pharmalucence (www.pharmalucence.com) is building a barrier isolated aseptic fill-finish facility as it further develops its business segment in contract manufacturing.
The isolator line will support fill-finish of Pharmalucence’s manufactured radiopharmaceuticals, while providing expanded capacity for contract services the company projects will grow 10% annually for ten years.

Bosch, Sartorius Stedim Collaborate On Single-Use Filling Solutions

Sartorius Stedim Biotech and Bosch Packaging Technology announced a long-term global partnership agreement covering the mutual design and development of single-use filling solutions to be used on Bosch’s aseptic filling equipment for final fill-and-finish operations of drug products.
 
SSB will provide Bosch with pre-configured single-use filling transfer sets, consisting of bags, filters, tubing and connectors.

Catalent Increases Sterile Fill-Finish Capacity

Catalent Pharma Solutions has completed construction of its newly-renovated 3,300 square foot aseptic fill-finish manufacturing facility at Research Triangle Park, NC, where it offers comprehensive sterile product formulation and development.
The renovation provides a four-fold increase of the sterile fill-finish capacity at the site and adds new complementary technology to Catalent’s existing service offerings.

OSO BioPharmaceuticals Invests $5 Million in New Equipment, Infrastructure

The company has implemented various equipment and building improvements, including a rolling diaphragm pump filling suite from Bosch.

OSO BioPharmaceuticals Manufacturing LLC is investing more than $5 million in equipment and infrastructural improvements that include a new Grade A aseptic filling suite for liquid, suspension and lyophilized products.

The rolling diaphragm pump filling suite, manufactured by Bosch, comes equipped with optional rotary piston and peristaltic pumps. It will function at 115 percent of the previous line’s capacity, increasing the speed and efficiency with which OsoBio can deliver drug products to clients.

Pharmatek Adds New Technology For Liquid Fill Production

Pharmatek Laboratories, Inc., San Diego, announced that it has expanded its existing liquid encapsulation capabilities by purchasing a Qualicaps FS3 Automated Liquid Filling and Banding System. The addition of the Qualicaps FS3 unit to Pharmatek's manufacturing capabilities increases overall efficiency at the Phase 2 production scale.

Filling a Niche

Excellence United to Debut in North America

Six specialty equipment companies have formed a network offering technology, service, and project management for all stages of pharmaceutical manufacturing. Launched at Interpack 2011 in Dusseldorf, Excellence United is an alliance of companies comprising more than 4800 people, including an extensive international service network with 600 employees.

Filling Stick Packs

Pharmaceutical contract manufacturer and packager Pharma Tech Industries (PTI) has added a Ropak Stik Pak 10-up S/N 307 machine to form, crimp, fill, and seal stick packs. The machinery can produce up to 600 stick packs per minute across 10 lanes.

“Stick packs are one of the fastest-growing packaging solutions in the over-the-counter pharmaceutical market, and this new equipment allows our customers to capitalize on this,” reported Tee Noland, PTI director of business development, in a statement.
