Easing the Patient’s Pharmacy Experience

A pharmacy error few weeks ago reaffirmed our need for better solutions.

A relative of mine suffering from shingles had a five-day prescription filled for acyclovir, five times per day. Feeling pretty ill, she took the prescription home from the pharmacy without double-checking it. But the pharmacy had dispensed just five pills instead of the 25 she had been expecting.

  • Having increased its production of hospital unit-dose products in the last couple of years, American Health Packaging (Columbus, OH) has updated its Web site to better target the hospital pharmacy customer. "With nearly 270 SKUs in our unit-dose product line, it was becoming critical to allow customers to find info on any one specific item," the company states in a press release.

  • With two staff changes, Oliver-Tolas Healthcare Packaging (Grand Rapids, MI) has added to its management team and enhanced its marketing approach. Jim Ferry has joined the company as director of operations for its Grand Rapids facility. In addition, Teri Meadow will be expanding her responsibilities as director of marketing and strategic development. 

  • Global Vision (Montreal, Canada), a provider of automated proofreading solutions for the packaging industry, has launched the Global Vision Blog. The company invites professionals "to learn, discuss, and connect with others involved in securing the packaging workflow." We are happy to welcome another packaging blogger to the Internet, joining PMP News Insider Blog.

  • Three machine vision trade associations have agreed to develop global industry standards. Leaders from the Automated Imaging Association (AIA), European Machine Vision Association (EMVA), and Japan Industrial Imaging Association (JIIA) today signed an agreement to cooperatively develop and promote global machine vision standards in Stuttgart Germany during the Vision trade fair.
