Scaling Noncompliance

  • More than 270 employees from TricorBraun and representatives from its suppliers helped repair 15 homes for those who have not yet recovered from the 2005 floods of Hurricane Katrina. Teams painted, insulated, roofed, and worked on correcting drainage problems around the houses.

  • The Almac Group has completed a 67,000-sq-ft expansion to its North Carolina facility in Durham, which now houses both the Clinical Services and Diagnostics Divisions. This additional facility, along with existing capacity, will increase the Durham campus to almost 138,000 sq ft and provide 3000 extra pallet locations for clinical supplies storage requirements.

  • Keystone Folding Box Company has appointed Ward Smith as its new director of marketing. In his new role, Smith will be responsible for the development of compliance packaging and applications for both clinical and marketed prescription drug products in North America, Europe, and emerging markets.

  • Former Speaker of the House and general chairman of American Solutions, Newt Gingrich, recently honored Richard Schloesser, president and chief executive officer of Toray Plastics (America) Inc. (North Kingstown, RI), as American Solutions’ 2009 Entrepreneur of the Year from Rhode Island. Speaker Gingrich recognized Schloesser at an American Solutions awards dinner on October 7, 2009, at the Capitol Hill Club in Washington, DC.

  • Toshiba America’s Imaging Systems Division (TAIS) has announced the appointment of Paul Dempster to the position of director, medical imaging and factory automation. Dempster will oversee sales, business development, and marketing activities for Toshiba’s advanced video imaging technology and high resolution CMOS and CCD cameras, which are used in surgical imaging, endoscopy, factory automation, machine vision, non-destructive testing, and specialty high-definition-video applications.
