This week Endo Pharmaceuticals reported that several of its products may experience a "constraint" or "disruption" in supply following the temporary shutdown of Novartis Consumer Health Inc.'s Lincoln, NE, manufacturing facility, where these Endo drugs have been manufactured.

A+ Secure Packaging LLC, a custom contract packaging for pharmaceutical, nutraceutical, dietary supplement, OTC, prescription, animal health, and medical device companies, has installed a new, fully integrated bottling line.

Pharmaceutical contract manufacturer and packager Pharma Tech Industries (PTI) has added a Ropak Stik Pak 10-up S/N 307 machine to form, crimp, fill, and seal stick packs. The machinery can produce up to 600 stick packs per minute across 10 lanes.

“Stick packs are one of the fastest-growing packaging solutions in the over-the-counter pharmaceutical market, and this new equipment allows our customers to capitalize on this,” reported Tee Noland, PTI director of business development, in a statement.

Contract services provider Almac met an urgent request from Alexion Pharmaceuticals Inc. to expedite packaging and distribution of Soliris (eculizumab) for patients with STEC-HUS during the E. coli outbreak in Germany earlier this year.
