BD Launches Simplist Generic Prefilled Injectable Products

The pharmaceutical packaging and product firm has introduced a line of prefilled injectibles designed to help improve patient safety and convenience.

BD (Becton, Dickinson and Company), a leading global medical technology company, today announced that the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has approved the first drug to be offered in the just-launched BD Simplist™ ready-to-administer, line of prefilled generic injectables. BD Simplist prefilled injectables will be commercialized and manufactured by BD Rx Inc., a wholly-owned subsidiary of BD.  The first BD Simplist product BD Rx will launch is Diphenhydramine Hydrochloride Injection, USP, an injectable antihistamine.

BD Launches Disposable Self-injection Pen

The BD Vystra disposable self-injection pen is designed for therapies requiring frequent, low-volume injections or variable dosing.

BD Medical, a segment of BD, announced today that the BD Vystra Disposable Pen will be showcased at the 2012 Parenteral Drug Association Meeting in Las Vegas. This new self-injection pen has been designed for use with a wide range of therapies that require frequent, low-volume injections or variable dosing.

BD Diagnostics Receives Go-ahead for RSV Test

The BD Veridor System, intended for rapid detection of respiratory syncytial virus, has received FDA approval for clinical use.

BD Diagnostics, a segment of BD (Becton, Dickinson and Company), a leading global medical technology company, announced today that it received 510(k) clearance from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) for nasopharyngeal wash, aspirate and swab in transport media specimens on the BD Veritor System for Rapid Detection of respiratory syncytial virus (RSV). This new product is cleared for use in clinical settings.

BD Launches Advanced Device for Insulin Injection

The Ultra-Fine Nano 4mm pen needles include five-bevel needle tips designed to provide diabetes patients with easier insulin injection.

Studies suggest that as many as one-fifth to one-third of people with diabetes are hesitant or unwilling to give themselves insulin injections for reasons that include needle anxiety. Patients who reported injection-related pain or embarrassment also admitted they intentionally skipped insulin injections more often. A study by the American Association of Diabetes Educators (AADE) revealed that 47% of people with diabetes would be more likely to administer their injections regularly if a product were available that would ease the pain and discomfort of injections.

BD Introduces Plastic Blood Culture Bottles

The bottles from BD Diagnostics are designed to help increase laboratory convenience while meeting quality standards.

BD Diagnostics, a segment of BD (Becton, Dickinson and Company), today announced that it obtained 510(k) clearance from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) for BD BACTECTM Plus Aerobic/F blood culture bottles in plastic, previously only available in glass. Obtaining 510(k) clearance allows for increased convenience for customers without compromising the performance and quality of the system.
