The largest event in the South combines big shows for big business.
This Spring’s SouthPack will be a huge, collocated event strategically designed to offer exhibitors and attendees a complete range of solutions to fulfill their packaging and manufacturing needs. In addition to SouthPack, the collocated shows include Powder & Bulk Solids Southeast, Advanced Manufacturing Exposition (AM Expo), Automation Technology Expo (ATX), and Design & Manufacturing South. The conference sessions will begin on Monday, April 23, and the expo will open Tuesday, April 24, and continue through Thursday, April 26.
The combined event anticipates approximately 800 exhibitors. It is the largest manufacturing trade show to take place in the South and, therefore, required a colossal venue, the Georgia World Congress Center located in downtown Atlanta. The center, which hosted the 1996 Olympic Games and boasts more than 300,000 sq ft, is one of the five largest in the country. It is so big that the Titanic could fit in the lobby.
SouthPack will feature two special product pavilions. The Pharmaceutical and Nutraceutical Packaging pavilion will exhibit equipment, disposables packaging, trays, blister packs, tamper-evident containers, medical-grade materials, and other innovations. It will also feature labeling and bar code equipment and testing, inspection, and sterilization services. The Material Handling & Logistics pavilion will feature equipment, products, and services for material handling, automation, and logistics. Conveyors, palletizers, robotics, and inventory-management systems will be on display.
Conference sessions will run from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Monday through Wednesday and 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. on Thursday. The AM Expo/ATX conference program will include sessions on lean production and RFID technology. The Powder & Bulk Solids Southeast program will consist of sessions on several topics such as bins and hoppers, dust-control systems, and more. The RFID sessions will take place on Thursday. Nick Infelese of Omron Electronics will present a review of case studies titled, “RFID That Works in Manufacturing.”
