New Ampac Laminate Supports Higher Speeds
Published: November 3rd, 2009
Ampac Flexibles (Cincinnati) has developed the Flexi-HS high-speed film laminate for form-fill-seal packaging. As a film that can heat seal at lower temperatures, Flexi-HS provides a wider operating window for supporting higher production speeds. The laminate features a temperature sealing range improvement of as much as 60 degrees F. The film achieves seal strengths of 8 PLI or greater, making it suitable for a wide range of applications.
Flexi-HS is available in both solventless (Flexi-Free) and solvent-based laminations. Ampac has certified that its solventless Flexi-Free films use 86 percent less energy compared to solvent-based films, qualifying them for a sustainability energy credit on Walmart’s score card.
“Packagers are trying to increase their efficiencies and get their costs down by running more packages per minute. As package machine engineering has improved, we are providing a more highly engineered film suitable for these higher output requirements,” says Sal Pellingra, innovation marketing director, Ampac Flexibles.
