DDN Hires Larry Sweeney as Chief Operating Officer

DDN, the largest privately-held provider of outsourced channel management and business services to the life science industry, has named Larry Sweeney its Chief Operating Officer.

Larry’s most recent experience in the biological and cold chain areas will continue to expand our capabilities in this key growth area. His experience will be a tremendous addition to our organization.”

In his new role, Sweeney will be responsible for operations at DDN’s distribution facilities in Memphis, Tenn., and Ontario, Calif., as well as for DDN’s information technology, order-to-cash, contract management and client initiatives/process improvement functions.

Sweeney previously was Senior Director, Distribution and Logistics, for Genzyme Corp., a manufacturer of pharmaceuticals, biologicals, medical devices and genetic/diagnostic testing, based in Framingham, Mass. In that role, Sweeney oversaw the strategic planning and management of all distribution, transportation, import/export, customs compliance and third-party logistics partner activities worldwide for 10 years.

Sweeney has 25 years of experience in pharmaceutical distribution and logistics and also has worked for Johnson & Johnson and AstraZeneca.

He has a bachelor of science degree from Fairfield University and a master of arts degree in organizational design from Pepperdine University. Sweeney spent 26 years in active and reserve service with the United States Marine Corps, from which he retired in 2001 as a lieutenant colonel.
