Tubes
Hybrid Printing Machine
A new printing machine features flexo printing stations and screen printing stations for flexible tubes. The TH 8130 has a special compensation mechanism that keeps the tube cliché roller distance constant within 0.01 mm, thus enabling half-tone printing of photorealistic images. An increase in pressure eliminates the nonprint areas at the cost of distorting the flexo dots in some areas. ISIMAT GmbH Siebdruckmaschinen, Ellwangen, Germany; +49 7961 8860; www.isimat.com.
Tube Closures and Decoration
A company offers six variations of new tamper-evident heads, caps, and closures for its pharmaceutical-compliant Polyfoil tubes. High-barrier Polyfoil tubes that protect sensitive pharmaceutical-grade formulations from light, moisture, oxygen, and organic and chemical substances now offer new tamper-evident features for even more product protection. The tamper-evident systems include a nozzle cap with a tear-off band; a twist-off closure featuring a recessed molded design on its top that can be used to remove the “top star” molded over the opening of the tube; a stamped-out foil membrane that is removed by using the pull-tab on the side; a fliptop cap with a tear-off band; a tube with a nonperforated cuttable nozzle; and a cap covered with a plastic shrink band sleeve that users pull at the perforated section to open the cap. The company also offers several tube decoration possibilities. Neopac, Oberdiessbach, Switzerland; +41 31770 1111; and Millington, NJ; 973/670-8367; www.neopac.ch.
