Packaging Resource Center: Show Coverage: A Bigger Show for the Big Apple
The 24th annual MD&M East event features expanded pavilions.
Some people find themselves in New York and never leave. Others visit the city and find that New York never leaves them. The fast-paced metropolis that thrives on business and creativity welcomes the Medical Design & Manufacturing East (MD&M) exposition and conference for the 24th year in a row. MD&M East will be held at the Jacob K. Javits Convention Center in the Big Apple. The event will run from Tuesday, June 6, through Thursday, June 8, and will be collocated with the EastPack and Automation Technology Expo (ATX) trade shows.
MD&M East will feature an expanded MedPak pavilion, which focuses on packaging equipment and materials and services for medical products. The Medical/Pharmaceutical and Nutraceutical Packaging pavilion in EastPack, sponsored by Pharmaceutical & Medical Packaging News, will showcase the latest in packaging machinery, containers, closures, materials, and services. The expo hall will be open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. for the first two days and 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on the last day of the event. Conferences will run from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. all three days of the show.
Semih Oktay, founder of the regulatory and engineering consulting firm CardioMed Device Consultants, and Steve Koepke, founder of SRK Consulting, will present “Advanced Submissions for Vascular Devices and Combination Products” on June 6. The speakers will present an overview of the FDA device classification and approval process, strategies for preclinical considerations for FDA submissions and technical report writing, and regulatory challenges and clinical trial requirements of combination products.
On June 7, Michael Drues, president of Vascular Sciences, will lead an interactive workshop engaging attendees in a discussion about the future of designing and manufacturing multiple combination products and drug-eluting stents. This session will cover adapting existing cardiovascular devices to deliver biotherapeutics, designing new devices to meet the challenges of delivering drugs and biologics, and how to decide which molecules to put on devices.
Approximately 1500 exhibiting companies and 30,000 buyers are expected to participate in this year’s event, which is presented by Canon Communications LLC. For more information or to register for the shows, call 310/445-4200 or visit www.mdmeast.com, www.eastpackshow.com, or www.atxeast.com.
