New Pouch for Delivering Aerosols

Ampac Flexibles—Converted Products, a unit of Ampac Packaging LLC (Cary, IL), has developed a drug-delivery pouch designed to work with devices that typically require glass vials or aerosol containers. Applications include inhalable drugs.

Ampac Flexibles offers its high-barrier Flexi 6833, a polyester/foil/ sealant layer lamination, for converting into pouches for liquids or powders. The material’s thin structure allows the pouch to collapse, which helps evacuate product while preventing air from entering and eliminates the need for the pressurization typically required for aerosol containers.

Ampac Flexibles combines the former companies Kapak Corp. (Minneapolis) and Flexicon Inc. (Chicago).

In other company news, Dave Bartish has joined the company’s Performance Films group as the director of sales, and Tricia Reighard has joined as director of technical marketing.
