True Color Sensor
A true color sensor is designed to perform as well as an instrument or a spectrometer. The new SMARTEYE ColorWise Sensor can be used for intricate color sorting or inspection problems on today’s high-speed packaging and production lines. A four-channel monitor provides users with a continual visual confirmation of performance. Sensor performance is controlled by the operator, who can select from a range of speeds, resolutions, digital or analog outputs, and more. The system can be used to solve difficult shade-to-shade or color-to color applications. Color can be captured from HMI, PLC, or remote buttons. Medical Pouch Sealer
A USDA-approved rotary band sealing system features verification ports for FDA-related validation. Model VBS-DH-3/8-10-V can be used to seal Tyvek pouches at 40 FPM and includes a self-contained air compressor. Quality hermetic seals of ¼- or ⅜-in. wide can be achieved through the use of heavy duty wear-resistant laminated Teflon bands. Extended heating and cooling zones ease sealing of difficult material. The unit is mounted on a stand with crank-handle height adjustment and can be positioned over an existing lower carry conveyor. A single-line embossing coder for product marking is available. Bottles for Oxygen-
A line of high-gas barrier bottles for sensitive pharmaceuticals are extrusion blow-molded with up to six layers and offer up to 100 times the barrier protection from oxygen than standard polyethylene bottles of similar size, the manufacturer reports. The six-layer structure can also incorporate a UV barrier along with customer-specific resins and design characteristics. A full range of standard sizes are available. As all Oxy-Guard neck finishes are SP 400, any pharmaceutical screw cap produced according to this standard can be used. The manufacturer can work with customers to customize performance parameters, materials, and bottle design. Oxy-Guard bottles can be used in conjunction with PharmaKeep oxygen scavengers to absorb the oxygen contained in the container headspace after drug filling and the small amount of oxygen that may still permeate into the container during shelf life. Ultrasonic welding processes can be monitored through the use of
pressure-indicating film. Such processes use high-frequency ultrasonic acoustic vibrations to seal containers, tubes, and blister packs. For sealing success, they require that a horn and anvil are precisely aligned during setup so that the horn exerts uniform pressure across the entire weld area. Routine use of Pressurex during the setup of ultrasonic welders helps ensure proper contact pressure and alignment between the horn and anvil, which results in welds of greater bond strength and aids in reducing rejected product and lowering base factory cost, Pressurex’s provider reports. The tool can reveal the distribution and magnitude of pressure between any two contacting surfaces. When placed between the horn and the anvil of the ultrasonic bonder, the film instantaneously and permanently changes color directly proportional to the actual pressure applied. Pressurex is thin (4 to 8 mils) and flexible, which enables it to conform to curved surfaces. Sensor Products Inc., Madison, NJ; 973/884-1755; firstname.lastname@example.org.
