High Barrier Laminations
High barrier/chemical resistant laminations are suited for packaging transdermal patches, oral dissolving thin strips, aggressive lotions, or hard to hold items. Perfec-Pharm P618 is a high-barrier lamination that incorporates Barex sealant, a proven film with excellent efficacy. The PerfecPharm P619 lamination provides a unique sealant technology with very similar product efficacy to Barex sealant, while offering more efficient sealing performance and unit cost reduction. Both laminations have extremely low interaction with drugs and other chemicals as well as excellent ultraviolet, oxygen, and moisture barrier properties. Additionally, these laminations are recommended for child-resistant applications. Perfecseal, a division of Bemis Company, Oshkosh, WI; 920/527-7047; www.perfecseal.com.
Solvent-Free Laminated Structure
A high-quality, solvent-free laminated structure is designed specifically for the packaging of food and healthcare products. The multilayer structure incorporates a layer of EVOH, which is combined with PVC in the base web. The structure provides high oxygen barrier, has very good clarity and deep draw properties, and is available in clear or opaque, as well as specialty tints. To meet customers’ varying needs, PureTherm 3007C EV5 is offered in a wide range of PVC thicknesses (5–40 mil), and accepts both permanent and peelable lidstock. Manufactured to meet the stringent requirements of the FDA and CFIA, the structure conveniently runs on all thermoforming equipment, with tooling for both large and small cavities, and shallow or deep draws. Polyester Films
A family of high-performance polyester films incorporate a wide range of structures to meet pharmaceutical packaging needs. The films are designed to be processed on existing equipment maintaining all critical package components, with no need to change tooling, lidding, or package design. The films can be used as mono films for pharmaceuticals requiring low moisture barrier, or they can be integrated into barrier structures for products that require more protection from moisture and gas. The films are ideal for solid oral-dose packaging, ethical drugs, OTC, generics, physician samples, veterinary medicine, and nutraceuticals. Compared with standard materials, they offer a wide forming window for optimal thermoforming; form at lower temperatures therefore decreasing energy use and increasing line speed; and punch and perforate cleanly, with no angel hair. Pentapharm kpVantage films also offer a full range of barrier protection with common contact material and process consistently with no neck-in and good registration. In addition, these films lay flat for improved performance on filling stations; have enhanced tensile properties for superior toughness, and provide brilliant clarity and superior optical and surface qualities.
