Richard Schloesser

Toray Plastics (America), Inc. (North Kingstown, RI) has announced a new CEO, Richard Schloesser. Schloesser, who had served as the company’s president and COO, is the first American to achieve the company’s highest-ranking position. Schloesser began at Toray in 1990 as a sales and marketing manager of the Torayfan Division. He then became vice president of sales and marketing, senior vice president of sales and marketing, and executive vice president. Before joining Toray, Schloesser was with ExxonMobil.

Founder and chairman of Tapemark (West St. Paul, MN) Robert Klas Sr. has received the first Dakota-Scott Counties Workforce Investment Board Entrepreneur of the Year Award. The inaugural award was given to Klaus for “Outstanding entrepreneurial innovation and leadership.” Future awards from the board in this category will be known as the Bob Klas Sr. Entrepreneur Award.

After serving in his position for eight years, Institute of Packaging Professionals (IoPP; Naperville, IL) executive director Ed Landon will retire at the end of June. The letter announcing this began with the group’s accomplishments during Landon’s tenure, including a 70% increase in enrollment. Replacing Landon will be Pat Farrey, who’s served as IoPP’s general manager since 2002. Landon will continue working with Landon Farrey and Assoc.

Michael E. Torti

The Rondo-Pak company (Norristown, PA), part of the Körber Medipak-Group, recently appointed Michael E. Torti as its new managing director. Torti’s previous positions include sales at manufacturing companies such as managing director of MedPlast Inc. where his focus was on the Chinese market, and where he was also responsible for creating partnerships with companies in the health sector.
