Absorbent Desiccants

Desiccants help protect products from damage caused by moisture and oxygen.

A line of absorbers removes oxygen inside any package or container to maintain product freshness and extend product shelf life. Absorbing up to three times their weight in oxygen, O-Busters maximize product quality by preventing the harmful effects of mold, mildew, bacteria, color change, taste change, insect gestation, and toxins. O-Busters eliminate the need for additives, gas flushing, and vacuum packing. The durable, tear-resistant polyethylene sachet package is waterproof and oilproof. The laminated material prevents ink from coming into contact with the packaged product. Available in nine sizes, ranging from 20 to 100 cm3, the O-Busters are offered as both individual packets and strips. Continuous-strip O-Busters are designed for use with automated desiccant dispensing equipment. Desiccare Inc., Pomona, CA; 800/446-6650; www.desiccare.com.

A desiccant cap prevents moisture damage to tablets while the outer soft-spring cap safeguards delicate effervescent tablets from breakage during shipping and handling. Compact engineering enables the effervescent-PAK to be carried in a pocket or handbag. The cap also incorporates silica gel to absorb moisture that has entered the tube after the cap is opened. The company can customize the package to customer specifications. Süd-Chemie Performance Packaging, Belen, NM; 800/989-3374; www.s-cpp.com.
