New Jersey-based Catalent announced the expansion of its ADVASEPT Lock delivery technology during this month’s Interphex conference in New York. It is a stopper-less, glass- and needle-free vial for safe delivery of injectable medications.
It is available in 1, 3, and 5-milliliter container closures but may be custom-designed to meet specific brand or delivery needs.
Wheaton, a provider of laboratory plastic and glass goods for life science and biopharmaceuticals, released a new white paper highlighting a discovery that use of its high recovery vials (HRV) provides a 99 percent residual waste reduction compared to traditional flat-bottom vials. The study will be available at Interphex on April 21 through April 23 in New York at booth #1412.

One lot of Calcium Gluconate Injection, USP, 10%, 100 mL Pharmacy Bulk Package, has been recalled by American Regent because the vials may contain silicone particles, the company reported in a statement posted to FDA's Web site. The lot is #1006, Expiration Date: January 2013, NDC # 0517-3900-25. No other lots or sizes are involved.
American Regent reports on FDA's Web site that the company is recalling Caffeine & Sodium Benzoate Injection, USP, 250 mg/mL, 2 mL Single Dose Vial, NDC # 0517-2502-10. The recall only affects lot #0084. No other lots of Caffeine & Sodium Benzoate Injection, USP are subject to this voluntary recall, the company reports.
SCHOTT North America Inc. appoints Linda S. Mayer to the office of president and CEO, making her the first woman to head the 2,800-employee strong North American operations of the specialty glass and materials technologies manufacturer. She succeeds former President and CEO Dr. Gerald Fine who became a director of SCHOTT Corp. and a member of the company’s North American Advisory Board in January.
