Gerresheimer AG announced its acquisition of Centor, a global supplier of prescription containers for medical dispensing, for $725 million. The move further extends Gerresheimer’s footprint in the pharmaceutical packaging business.
Teva Parenteral Medicines announced a voluntary recall of six lots of Adrucil (fluorouracil injection, USP) 5g/100 mL (50 mg/mL) due to the potential presence of particulate matter identified as aggregate of silicone rubber pieces from a filler diaphragm and fluorouracil crystals, according to an FDA press release. A similar recall occurred in May.

New Jersey-based Catalent announced the expansion of its ADVASEPT Lock delivery technology during this month’s Interphex conference in New York. It is a stopper-less, glass- and needle-free vial for safe delivery of injectable medications.
It is available in 1, 3, and 5-milliliter container closures but may be custom-designed to meet specific brand or delivery needs.
Wheaton, a provider of laboratory plastic and glass goods for life science and biopharmaceuticals, released a new white paper highlighting a discovery that use of its high recovery vials (HRV) provides a 99 percent residual waste reduction compared to traditional flat-bottom vials. The study will be available at Interphex on April 21 through April 23 in New York at booth #1412.
