Roche Mycoplasma Detection Test Attains FDA Acceptance

The pharmaceutical test reportedly reduces detection time from one month to one day.

Today Roche announced that the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has accepted the use of its PCR based mycoplasma detection test MycoTOOL for release testing of one of Roche's biological products. It is the first commercially available mycoplasma PCR test accepted by the FDA for release testing of a biopharmaceutical product that can replace conventional and time-consuming mycoplasma detection assays based on culture methods.

Roche Diagnostics to Open Learning and Development Center

The facility will focus on developing new diagnostics and diabetes care technologies.

Mayor Greg Ballard today joined Roche Diagnostics President and CEO Jack Phillips as well as other Roche executives and community leaders to break ground on the company's new Learning and Development Center. The center is the first element of a $300 million site transformation investment that was announced in June 2012. The city of Indianapolis and the Indiana Economic Development Corporation offered Roche tax abatements, tax credits and training grants to support Roche's investment.

The company has introduced a new insert for co-cultivation of two different cell types with its xCELLigence system.

Co-cultivation can be used in a wide variety of applications, including cell signalling and toxicology testing. A key goal in drug discovery is to identify how to most effectively monitor cell-cell interactions when cells show pathology. Roche Applied Science is now providing the new E-Plate Insert 16 and E-Plate Insert 96, permitting continual impedance-based monitoring of indirect cell-cell interactions/communication using xCELLigence Instruments.
