Frazier Healthcare and Catalent Pharma Solutions, Inc., today announced they have closed the purchase and sale of Catalent’s U.S. commercial pharmaceutical packaging operations based in Philadelphia, PA and Woodstock, IL to Frazier.

Piramal Healthcare Limited has agreed to acquire Decision Resources Group a US based company in the healthcare information segment, for a consideration of approximately US$ 635 million.

AlpVision and Nolato Medical announce a new partnership to establish collaborative activities to protect primary plastic packaging and medical devices against counterfeiting. The partnership builds on AlpVision's breakthrough patented Fingerprint(TM) technology, which enables brand owners in the pharmaceutical industry to track and authenticate mass produced products manufactured in a mold with a scanner or an iPhone.

Demand for pharmaceutical packaging in the U.S. is forecast to increase 5.3 percent annually through 2014 as manufacturers seek to adjust to evolving regulations and standards. PACK EXPO International 2012 (October 28-31; McCormick Place, Chicago, IL) will give brand owners access to a number of resources to ease the search for technologies that can help ensure compliance as well as discover advances in other areas driving the industry, including automation, serialization and traceability.

The studies illustrate how Walgreens approach to community pharmacy ultimately helps improve outcomes through cost savings, pharmacist-led face-to-face patient counseling and specialized services for disease management.
