Drug Companies Face Year of Reckoning for Serializing Products

Pharmaceutical manufacturers that have been hoping for a reprieve from e-pedigree requirements will have to jump into the game in 2013, if California’s deadlines for product serialization hold, as most observers believe they will.

Novis Pharmaceuticals (Miami) is labeling product with serialized bar codes to help customers track medication inventory and use. With the specialty therapeutics distributor’s RxID solution, customers scan the codes at established locations for monitoring product orders and internal distribution. Customers access serialized product information through a Novis Web site portal.

Drug Distributor Extends Subscription for Creating Electronic Pedigrees

Pharmaceutical distributor Dik Drug Co. has renewed its multiple-year subscription to pharmaceutical traceability software and services provided by SupplyScape Corp.
