Child-Resistant Packaging Required For Products Containing Imidazolines

Manufacturers of eye drops and nasal products will have up to two years to develop the special packaging.
Pharmaceutical companies will be updating packaging for more than 40 commonly used products following a Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) rule requiring child-resistant (CR) packaging for product containing imidazolines.
The regulation impacts all prescription and OTC medications with the equivalent of 0.08 mg or more of imidazolines, a family of drugs that perform as vasoconstrictors when applied topically.

Johnson & Johnson (J&J) has recognized global packaging provider Amcor Ltd. with a 2012 Supplier Sustainability Award. Amcor Rigid Plastics and Amcor Flexibles were both recognized for their overall sustainability efforts as well as their roles as suppliers to J&J. One of 43 nominated suppliers in J&J's worldwide competition, Amcor was one of seven award winners.

BD Introduces Plastic Blood Culture Bottles

The bottles from BD Diagnostics are designed to help increase laboratory convenience while meeting quality standards.

BD Diagnostics, a segment of BD (Becton, Dickinson and Company), today announced that it obtained 510(k) clearance from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) for BD BACTECTM Plus Aerobic/F blood culture bottles in plastic, previously only available in glass. Obtaining 510(k) clearance allows for increased convenience for customers without compromising the performance and quality of the system.
