Delta Air Lines to Offer GPS Tracking and Tracing

Delta Air Lines has inked an exclusive marketing agreement with OnAsset Intelligence, a provider of machine-to-machine (M2M) wireless asset tracking solutions, enabling Delta Cargo customers to view GPS location information on deltacargo.com, Delta reported.

Users will be able to track and trace cargo in transit across the Delta and Delta Connection fleet, which operates more than 5000 daily flights to more than 340 destinations, 61 countries and six continents. Cargo status can be viewed on a customized Web page.

Grubb served most recently on the cargo operations team as manager of customer service strategy. A long-time veteran of American’s Cargo division, Grubb was pivotal in the development of American’s existing cold chain service ExpediteTC.

Balancing Passenger and Cargo Security

I listened to an informative roundtable courtesy of American Airlines Cargo on the upcoming 100% Air Cargo Screening Mandate, which becomes law on August 1, 2010. All cargo to be shipped on passenger airplanes will need to be screened before it is loaded. The law is to “ensure the safety of those passengers above that cargo,” explained Doug Brittin, general manager, air cargo, Transportation Security Administration (TSA).
