Independent Lab Accredited for ISTA’s New Standard Certification

gh Package/Product Testing and Consulting Inc. reported in January that it was the first independent laboratory to be authorized by the International Safe Transit Association (ISTA) to test and certify temperature-controlled insulated shipping containers for overnight and two-day shipment.

DDL East Expands

DDL, a provider of package and product testing services, is expanding its testing facility in Edison, NJ. The company has recently increased its testing capabilities for thermal performance testing and conditioning for thermal testing.

Chamber space at DDL East now includes:

*1200-cu-ft walk-in chamber, capable of up to 6 pallets, with a temperature of 5 degrees C

*1200 cu-ft walk-in chamber, capable of up to 6 pallets, with a temperature range of 30 to 50 degrees C for development projects

Körber acquires Seidenader Maschinenbau

The Hamburg-based Körber Group is buying the company Seidenader Maschinenbau GmbH (Markt Schwaben, Germany). Seidenader is one of the world’s leading manufacturers of inspection machines, software, and vision applications for pharmaceutical production. Körber AG is using this acquisition to boost its fast-growing Pharmaceutical Packaging Systems Division headed by Körber Medipak.
 

Defining Test Practices

An ASTM standard for climatic stress testing of small parcels is approved.

ASTM committees have recently focused on testing packages’ ability to withstand shipping environmental hazards, and evaluating new methods for testing sterile barrier system integrity.
After recent completion of balloting in ASTM International Committee F02 on Flexible Barrier Packaging, ASTM’s committee on standards approved in December ASTM F 2825-10, Standard Practice For Climatic Stressing of Packaging Systems For Single Parcel Delivery.
