Chesapeake Installs New Four-Color Press

Paperboard packaging supplier Chesapeake Pharmaceutical and Healthcare Packaging has installed a new Alprinta 52 web offset press at its Hicksville, NY, facility. The four–color press, which can run materials up to 20.5 in. wide and 40 in. long, will be used to print patient-information leaflets for the healthcare market. It also features UV curing and a non-stop rewinding unit for re-insertion, giving Chesapeake the capacities to run up to 8 colors.

Clondalkin Specialist Packaging Division Expands in Russia

Clondalkin Pharma & Healthcare, a unit of the Specialist Packaging Division of Clondalkin Group, has established sales and marketing offices in Saint Petersburg, Russia. The company has also signed a long-term manufacturing and marketing agreement with Saint Petersburg-based packaging producer Industry of Colour (Incol). Incol will support Clondalkin with local production and finishing activities.

Colbert Packaging Corporation and Haapanen Brothers announced they have formed C and H Printing Solutions, Inc., a new provider of micro-folded packaging inserts and outserts.

Chesapeake Installs New Large Format Folder

Chesapeake Pharmaceutical and Healthcare Packaging has installed its second Vijuk MV-2011 Large Format Folder at its Hicksville, Long Island, NY facility. The folder, which is part of a major global investment program, will produce patient-information leaflets for the healthcare market.
 
“This purchase is in response to the FDA requirement for larger font sizes and additional prescribing information for packaging inserts.

Miniature Folding Installs Vijuk Outsert System

Miniature Folding Inc., a family-owned commercial and pharmaceutical printer in Elmwood Park, NJ, has purchased a Vijuk MV-11 Triple Knife Outsert System from Vijuk Equipment Inc. (Elmhurst, IL.) Seeing sheet sizes continuing to grow, Miniature Folding Inc. required a larger-format, miniature-folding outsert machine.

“We understand how important it is to recognize trends and make correct purchases when it comes to adding equipment that best serves our clients,” explained operations manager Joseph Taliercio, in a press release.

Anticipating Industry’s Needs for Outserts

Haapanen Brothers Inc. (Gurnee, IL), a complete graphics and printing resource for commercial and pharmaceutical markets, has invested in a Vijuk–G&K V-14 Miniature/Commercial Folder installed in August and a Vijuk MV-11 Double-Knife Outsert System to be installed in October by Vijuk Equipment Inc. (Elmhurst, IL).

Chesapeake Pharmaceutical and Healthcare Packaging has agreed to acquire Cortegra Group Inc. from Menasha Corp. Cortegra, a U.S. producer of leaflets and labels with two production facilities dedicated to the pharmaceutical and healthcare sector, will add to Chesapeake’s existing three U.S. facilities and its global supply network.

Robinson Printing (Temecula, CA) has added the latest in folding and gluing equipment to its existing line of precise folding equipment, which the company states makes it one of very few West Coast options offering both folding and gluing for product instructions-for-use. The company serves medical device manufacturers throughout the United States, Puerto Rico, and Europe.
