In September, MGS Machine Corp. doubled its manufacturing capacity by opening a new facility to handle more line integration and full system FATs. Built with recycled materials as well as methods to lower energy consumption, the new building utilizes state-of-the-art communications systems.

A new generation of vertical cartoners is now available from Z Automation Company (Arlington Heights, IL). Model CV6-350C is a continuous motion cartoner that features a streamlined, modular design; patented Dynamic Carton Cell Chain; Volumetric Filler; and integrated Vision System.

The cartoner will load a variety of carton sizes and styles, including theater boxes. With a 4-spindle rotary carton feeder, Model CV6-350C is designed to run cartons at a rate up to 350 cartons per minute.

The Keystone Folding Box Company (Newark, NJ) recently completed a multi-year initiative to invest in new capital equipment and packaging technologies in order to meet the growing needs of its commercial business.
 
In addition to several new printing presses and die cutting systems, the company invested in two new Bobst Folder/Gluers lines with integrated Auto-Case-Packing. These high-speed systems provide automatic folding and gluing of cartons with unsurpassed reliability, said Wade Hartman, president.
 

The capsule manufacturer ACG Worldwide launches its North American subsidiary ACG North America L.L.C. (South Plainfield, NJ) to accommodate the company's growing business in North America and its intention to introduce a broader range of products. The new subsidiary positions ACG to better serve the company's U.S., Canadian, and Mexican customers by offering locally based sales and technical support.

Colbert Packaging Corp. (Lake Forest, IL) has received Sustainable Forestry Initiative and Forest Stewardship Council Chain of Custody Certifications following a rigorous audit of three facilities. These two new certifications encompass Colbert’s operations in Lake Forest, IL, and Elkhart, IN, certifying three facilities for meeting strict tracking requirements to ensure that certified paperboard used in these facilities comes from a well-managed forest. The certifications are a key component of Colbert’s sustainability goals.

The plan is aimed at strengthening its customer focus and increasing its global presence without affecting the existing strategies and focuses of the Group’s American businesses, which include OYSTAR Packaging Technologies, OYSTAR Jones, and OYSTAR USA.

Catalent Pharma Solutions Inc. (Somerset, NJ) announced the appointment of Paul Burns to the position of Vice President of Global Sales.
