Pharmapack, BIOMEDevice Europe Partner to Showcase Latest Advances in Pharmaceutical and Medical Packaging and Combination Products
Dedicated to showcasing the latest developments in pharmaceutical and medical device packaging, Pharmapack will return to Paris February 1-2, 2010. Now in its 9th edition, the highly focused event will be accompanied by a new partner, BIOMEDevice Europe, which will cover the combination products resulting from the convergence of pharmaceutical, biotechnology, and medical device technologies.
Pharmapack continues its respected tradition of exploring key packaging issues concerning European pharmaceutical and medical device manufacturers. The 2010 event offers in-depth conference presentations on the roles packaging plays in terms of compliance, proper drug use and treatment, patient safety, and protection of healthcare personnel. In addition, 200 leading companies representing renowned designers, manufacturers, and suppliers of materials, medical devices, packaging, services and technologies, and production equipment will showcase current advances.

Packaging experts are also scheduled to address emerging industry interest in sustainability and anticounterfeiting. Elisabeth Poy, Sustainable Development Director, Sanofi Aventis, will chair the opening session on packaging sustainability. Jean-Marc Bobée, Director Anticounterfeiting Strategy, Sanofi Aventis, will explore the fight against drug counterfeiting in another session. Packaging technology providers will follow each speaker, offering concrete approaches to addressing each challenge.
Pharmapack will also review the latest developments in packaging delivery systems for liquid forms, injectables, and inhaled forms (nasal and pulmonary). In addition, a new session of conferences will detail the challenges and opportunities in packaging veterinary products.
The Pharmapack Awards ceremony will unveil the most innovative packaging for products places on the French market between the 7th November 2008 and 15th November 2009.
BIOMEDevice Europe is billed as the first European event dedicated to combination products. Conference presentations and exhibitions will address the technology needs of a wide range of professionals including senior executives, device/drug delivery system design engineers and development managers, purchasing/sourcing managers, project and business managers, and finance and legal executives.
The development of new combination products is regarded today as one of the most promising fields in terms of market opportunities, say show organizers. Several merging treatments for cardiovascular and orthopaedic conditions as well as for wound care rely on combination products. In addition, combination devices offer manufacturers the chance to extend the product life of existing pharmaceutical brands and to deliver drugs locally to maximise therapeutic effect while minimising contraindications.
