Sanofi-Aventis launches Maalox Plus
Sanofi-Aventis has launched Maalox Plus in Italy using the Burgopak slider design, one of four products to be launched by Sanofi in that format. Sanofi's first product launch was Dolipranelib for the French OTC market in September 2010, which was recently recognized in the "Family Medicine" category in France's ImpactPharmacien awards. Sanofi's heartburn brand Maalox in flavours Menthe and Citron have also been launched.
The Burgopak features a paperboard package that slides open to present both the blister-packaged product and instructions to users for ease of use. The design chosen for Maalox Plus utilizes a bright yellow outer carton and contrasting orange blister chosen by Sanofi. According to Burgopak, this combination ensures that the Maalox Plus product boldly stands out from its OTC competitors on pharmacy shelves and also aims to increase consumer brand recognition.
"We are delighted to continue to work with Sanofi by extending the Maalox brand using the Burgopak slider into the Italian market," says Tim Clarke, CEO of Burgopak Healthcare & Technology, in a press release. "This is a great compliment to the slider design and is further recognition that the Burgopak slider is appealing to consumers across the global OTC market."

The first automated Burgopak slider was launched into the pharmaceutical market in 2008. Burgopak offers the portable design to support patient safety and compliance. Burgopak's patented sliding mechanism is designed to keep the patient information booklet, blister packaging, and the branded outer carton connected at all times.
In addition to housing blisters, the Burgopak slider design can be adapted to accommodate medical devices and starter kits for the pharmaceutical, healthcare, medical device, and veterinary industries.
