Compete through Packaging Innovation

Increasing competition and pricing pressures are making the pharmaceutical industry more challenging than ever. Researchers are working toward the next big blockbuster, but with pipelines reportedly a bit less robust, companies may want to consider packaging as another route for innovation.

New packaging solutions will be discussed at the upcoming Pharmapack, held February 23-24 in Paris. Novel systems for improving patient and practitioner safety, achieving dosing accuracy, and maintaining product stability will be discussed, both in the two-day conference and on the exposition floor. continued




Industry Responds to Anti-Counterfeiting Threats

Despite the current lack of anticounterfeiting mandates throughout the globe, drug manufacturers are increasingly taking action to protect their own supply chains. Debiopharm Group, a Swiss-based global biopharmaceutical group, will be using digital technology from AlpVision for product authentication. According to a Debiopharm spokesperson quoted in AlpVision's January 2011 newsletter, "Even though Debiopharm is not aware of any existing counterfeits of its manufactured products, our group will implement such tools during 2011. This will constitute an additional measure proposed by Debiopharm in the interest of our partners and of patients' security."

In December, Debiopharm was given the "2010 Frost & Sullivan European Biopharmaceuticals Company of the Year Award." Debiopharm currently markets Eloxatin/Elplat, Decapeptyl/Trelstar/Pamorelin, and Moapar/Salvacyl. continued



Pharmapack Just Days Away!

Pharmapack continues to expand its reach along with partner show BIOMEDevice Europe. From February 23-24, 2011, Pharmapack will hold its 10th edition of the growing European exhibition. Held at the Grande Halle de la Villette in Paris, France, the event is expected to draw more than 2800 visitors and 250 exhibitors—representing an increase of 10% compared to last year, showing the growing importance for the sector.

Pharmapack focuses on the packaging and drug delivery needs of pharmaceutical, biopharmaceutical, and veterinary companies as well as health institutions and agencies. continued
