Sertech Acquired by CCL Industries

CCL Industries Inc. has acquired Thunder Press Inc., also known as "Sertech," which produces inserts and outserts for pharmaceutical customers. CCL Label produces similar products at its facilities in Baltimore, MD, Canada, and Puerto Rico. The acquired company will immediately change its trading name to CCL Label.

Sertech founders Jeff Adesko, William McDonough, and Michael Bergeron have signed long-term employment agreements as part of the transaction and will join the Healthcare Solutions business group of CCL Label North America led by Jim Sellors, Vice President and General Manager.

"The Healthcare sector continues to be attractive for us and we have been very successful with similar acquisitions in this product space in the recent past in North America," said Geoffrey Martin, president and CEO of CCL Industries, in a press release. "The excellent Sertech facility in Chicago and the great team that Jeff assembled while building the business will also allow us to get closer in many respects to pharmaceutical customers based in the Midwest region."

CCL Industries now employs approximately 5,900 people in 62 plants globally located to meet the sourcing needs of large international customers. CCL Label is the world's largest converter of pressure sensitive and film materials for label applications and sells to leading global customers in the consumer packaging, healthcare, automotive, and consumer durable segments.

CCL Container and CCL Tube produce aluminum aerosol cans, bottles, and extruded plastic tubes for the consumer products industry in North America.
