According to the company, Overnight Labels has won multiple industry awards in recognition of its green efforts after its founder, Donald Earl, resolved to implement cleaner, greener programs in 2006.
Highlighting the company’s sustainability efforts is the use of water-based inks, coatings, and adhesives free of volatile organic compounds (VOCs).
The company states that its label and packaging options are 100% compostable and made from 30% post-consumer fiber. Overnight Labels also offers tree-free white made from bamboo, bagasse, and cotton linters.
To conserve energy lighting, the company uses low-energy usage fixtures. Overnight Labels also installed a quality management system to help reduce press waste. In addition, a new computer matching system delivers improved color match accuracy which in turn allows the recycling of excess inks to produce other colors, according to the company.
In an effort to improve recycling, the company states that plant debris is deposited in an on-site recycling dumpster and refillable toner and ink cartridges are used for printers and fax machines, dropping the number of units used from 120 new units to 20 refilled units per year.
