Oliver-Tolas Healthcare Packaging Expands Manufacturing on Three Continents

Oliver-Tolas Healthcare Packaging has expanded operations at three of its locations around the world. The supplier of sterile-grade packaging has acquired a 50,000 sq-ft facility adjacent to its current Feasterville, PA, location; expanded its cleanroom manufacturing space in Venray, Netherlands; and launched manufacturing in Suzhou, China.

“We have been deliberating expansion options for our Feasterville, PA operation and are excited to have overcome space limitations,” said Jerry Bennish, President and CEO, in a statement. “Utilization of the additional warehouse space has begun and plans are underway to construct an ISO 7 and an ISO 8 cleanroom totaling 5,000 square feet.” Oliver-Tolas’s Feasterville, PA operation manufactures pouches, roll stock, lids and zone-coated lids, the company reported, and the expansion will allow for improved product flow, added capacity, and additional cleanroom space. Future investment in Feasterville will include equipment purchases to support increasing demand for high-quality sterile-grade packaging.

In Venray, cleanroom manufacturing expansion includes a 1300-sq-ft ISO 8 certified cleanroom and 16,000-sq-ft warehouse. “The expansion demonstrates Oliver-Tolas’s commitment to the European sterile-grade packaging market,” said Rutger van Dooren, International Managing Director, in the statement. The Venray facility produces lids and pouches utilizing both its Xhale and SealScience adhesive-coated products, and the added space will be used to prepare printed roll stock products as well as serve as additional capacity for lid production.

Having opened a sales office in Suzhou, China, in 2006, the company is now manufacturing in a 12,000-sq-ft facility that includes an 1800-sq-ft registered ISO 8 cleanroom. “Now we are bringing die-cut lid manufacturing to China paired with our core adhesive technologies and robust quality system,” said Jeff Murak, Vice President of Sales and Marketing, in the statement. “This allows Oliver-Tolas to improve and localize service to existing customers in the region and support demand from Medical Device and Pharmaceutical manufacturers moving into China.”

These expansions follow just one year after Oliver-Tolas invested $1.3 million in its Grand Rapids, MI, facility to expand manufacturing, add cleanroom installations, and modernize its Packaging Development and Technology Center. The manufacturing area expansion added 40,000 square feet to the existing 140,000 square feet of production space.
