New Allegra Trial Pack Features Breakaway Clam Shell

Chattem, the consumer health care division of Sanofi US, has launched packaging for Allegra with easy-open, “grab-and-go” features and sustainable materials.
The new package is designed to be easy to carry, simple to open without the need to cut through rigid plastic, and re-sealable. It features Sanofi’s first use of an internally designed breakaway clamshell with a tamper evident and theft deterrent design, which also functions as a reclosable, reusable, nomad package, Sanofi announced.
The blister is patterned after the Allegra “A” logo, the company’s first use of a non-square or rectangular-shaped blister card.
 
Patent applications have been filed for the new trial pack, which represents several other “firsts” for Sanofi and the Allegra brand, among them:
Sanofi’s first commercial use of a new patient-preferred CR push through foil blister material; and the first use of a heat seal merchandising card with rigid clamshell/display tray for Allegra OTC.
In addition, the package is Sanofi US’s first use of RPET-- clamshell material containing post-consumer recycled PET resin; and the first use of Sustainable Forestry Initiative  paperboard and logo for the heat seal card and display tray.
Patent applications have been filed for the new trial pack, which includes a two-day supply of Allegra 180 mg. The package was designed by the Industrial Development and Innovation team at Sanofi  in St. Louis. The team began with 30 different packaging concepts before landing on the current design, Sanofi said.
