Industrial Dynamics/filtec Delivers SPT Monitoring Technology to Customers

Industrial Dynamics/filtec (Torrance, CA) develops a new Single Platform Technology (SPT) system allowing users to view and access local and remote machines from a single touch-screen interface. The SPT interface is available for new machines, and can also serve as a compatible upgrade for all older filtec inspection models.

Unlike prior designs, the SPT interface features a full-size color display similar to that of a computer with large fonts and buttons. Appropriate for the plant environment, the touch-screen remains effective with or without gloves on, and the default Dashboard allows employees to view important data such as total throughput and reject percentages of any filtec machine from afar while working on the floor. SPT version 1.0 allows workers to focus on a job rather than figure out the functionality of a machine. Easy-to-use wizards present instructions and checkpoints as personnel scroll through the process right there on the screen. The SPT interface includes on-screen manuals, machine part diagrams, event logs, step-by-step wizards, and a simple-term search window to access databases and complete tasks safely and efficiently. This intuitive system is designed from top to bottom to make it easier to use filtec machinery features to their full potential.

The navigation bar is always present at the top of the screen to help users easily navigate the system through drop-down submenus located along the bar. Machine information can also be viewed from a single host machine as multiple databases are stored on a single network. Remote Wifi access also makes vital machine statistics viewable from an iPhone, iPad or any other web-enabled personal device. The SPT interface features administrative password-protected logins and privilege settings to help ensure responsibility of employees in combination with the event logs which record changes in machine settings and current user log-ins. Time and date search queries maximize management efficiency and help to resolve issues of responsibility quickly as to increase productivity. Logged diagnostics prompt error notifications and cue the status bar to flash red if an issue arises to alert users when immediate action is required.

When asked about the motivation behind the creation of the SPT system, Beny Levy, Human Machine Interface Analyst, states, "We are listening to our customers, and this new technology is just the beginning. As the interface is available as an option on new machines as well as an upgrade for older machines, it is built to be expandable. The SPT is a product of consumer feedback, and we’re building it so when one machine gets a desired feature, we’ll be able to add that to other SPT machines through an upgrade.”

While maintaing exceptional layout and function, Industrial Dynamics/filtec plans to provide a succession of upgraded SPT systems with even more extensive features for its customers.
