Complete Inspection Debuts High-Speed Imaging System

Complete Inspection Systems (CIS; Indialantic, FL) is offering a new 14.7 megapixel imaging station as part of its range of automated inspection systems. The firm says the camera-based inspection system leverages the newest imaging technology with CIS’s proven software solutions for dramatically speeding up and simplifying the inspection process.

Designed to replace a 17-by-11-in. flat bed scanner, InspecXL14 allows users to automatically capture images for detailed inspection. The device captures an image as large as 15-by-11 in. at 300 dpi, but can capture and process the image in just 2 to 3 seconds, a fraction of the time it takes a scanner to preview, scan, and process an image.

The unit features a live preview, zoom capability, and adjustable angled lighting, with a locking X-Y table for operator ease in keeping the inspected component in the center of the frame.

For ensuring incoming printed materials are correct, once an image is captured, software systems analyze and compare the images to reveal any defects in seconds, using CIS’s image comparison algorithm. Operator downtimes can be minimized by eliminating the 5 to 10 minutes typically involved in previewing, scanning, and cropping a scanned image.

Complete systems include a PC, monitor, software and the InspecXL14 Imaging Station, starting at $8000.
