Amcor Releases its 2010 Sustainability Report
This week Amcor released its 2010 Sustainability Report, showing that in FY 2009/10 Amcor continued integrating sustainability into its organizational management systems. During that timeframe, Amcor was also internationally recognized as a sustainability leader, being included in the Dow Jones Sustainability Asia Pacific Index, the FTSE4Good Index, and the 2009 Carbon Disclosure Leadership Index (Materials sector, Australian and New Zealand Region).
The report outlines efforts in five domains of sustainability: economy, workplace, marketplace, environment, and community.
Amcor’s approach to sustainability also accounts for social responsibility, code of conduct, and ethics policy, and shareholders interests.
The report also outlines how Amcor’s sustainability risks and opportunities are identified, prioritized, and managed, supporting Amcor’s adherence to the Australian Securities Exchange (ASX) Corporate Governance Council’s Principles of Good Corporate Governance and Best Practice Recommendations – specifically Principle 7 (Recognize and Manage Risk).
The Report has been prepared in accordance with the Global Reporting Initiative’s (GRI) Sustainability Reporting Guidelines (2006) and AccountAbility’s AA1000 Assurance Standard (2008). NetBalance, one of the largest providers of sustainability advice, assurance, and research in Australia, has independently assessed the Report and confirmed that it meets the requirements for the B+ GRI Application Level.
The report provides detailed information for those investors and investment professionals who consider sustainability a key company performance indicator. To view the report online or to provide feedback, go to www.amcor.com/sr10
