“As vice chairs over the past year, Tom and George have demonstrated consistent leadership within the UID and UDI communities and are well suited to lead these important committees,” states AIM North America past board chairperson Don Ertel, CDO Technologies, in a press release. “I join the board with my vote of confidence in their ability to keep the momentum going forward and building on past success as they guide these committees to achieve our goals for 2013 and beyond.”

According to AIM NA, the UID Supplier Alliance (USA) is the committee within AIM North America dedicated to raising the awareness and adoption of the UID Policy within the DoD agencies and DoD contractors, and includes leading providers of UID and other automatic identification and data capture (AIDC) solutions.

AIM NA explains that the UDI Committee is the committee within AIM North America that provides guidance and best practices on the use of AIDC (automatic identification and data capture) technologies in the implementation of the FDA UDI and SNI initiatives. Developing and promoting technologically and economically sensible implementation models, the committee will address the need for interoperability with national and international unique device and unique item identification requirements, emphasizing both compatibility and affordability.
