3C! Packaging Expands Services to Include Label Manufacturing
Published: April 22nd, 2013
At Interphex 2013, 3C! Packaging is showcasing its new state-of-the-art label manufacturing equipment via a video presentation at its booth. The new equipment opens the door for an expanded suite of services from the Clayton, NC-based company.
The pharmaceutical packaging specialist can now offer all-in-one capabilities to customers wishing to have their cartons, inserts/outserts, and labels produced under one roof.
“In recent years, new machinery and expanded services have played a large part in 3C! Packaging’s growth,” said Joe Elphick, president and CEO of 3C! Packaging. “Having folding cartons, pharmaceutical leaflets, and labels all manufactured under one roof, with state of the art vision systems, gives us the ability and agility needed to facilitate successful product launches…Second to None!”
The effort incorporates several high-profile equipment additions, including:
A 13 in. FB-3300, 6-Color, Servo Flexo Press from Nilpeter: Offering a broad range of multi-substrate packaging materials, the advanced modular UV-flexo press provides fast make-ready and run speeds. The machine’s Print Management Centre helps control all print jobs and allows users to preset process and production parameters, ensuring exceptional quality.
Roll Inspection Mapping System (RIMS) from Label Vision Systems: The RIMS is a high-speed, closed loop system that allows operators to detect, track and store the smallest of errors during printing runs with 100% quality control. Once the run is completed, users can determine whether the labels meet quality control expectations and, if necessary, run splicing and roll fixing error changes via an off-line rewind/slitter device.
A CEI 130 EX Slitter/Rewinder from Converting Equipment International: The servo-driven machine offers slitting by both razor and shear knife, and features a 40” unwind, a 24” single or dual rewind, an electronic web guide with ultrasonic sensor, and end-of-line inspection.
Attendees are being offered the opportunity to schedule sessions detailing “Color by The Numbers,” 3C! Packaging’s successful color control program. “Color by The Numbers” features a digital spectrophotometer that assigns color opponent dimensions known as L.A.B. values (“L” for light, “A” and “B” as color opponent variables), eliminating from the process the subjective human interpretation of color. Benefits of the “Color by The Numbers” program include tighter color control, streamlined proofing and elimination of “light-medium-dark” color swatches.
