10% Revenue Growth, Promising Pipeline for Pharmaceutical Company of the Year

Med Ad News and PharmaLive.com have identified the top-performing pharmaceutical companies of the year. Roche has been acknowledged as Pharmaceutical Company of the Year. The company’s total sales grew 10% in 2009 to $45.17 billion, with the Pharmaceutical and Diagnostics divisions accounting for 80% and 20% of company sales respectively. These divisions both grew twice as fast as their respective markets. Roche expects strong 2010 sales as well. In the first half of 2010, the Pharmaceutical division filed nine major new marketing applications and gained 11 major approvals. As of the end of June, the division’s clinical development portfolio included 60 new molecular entities and 42 additional indications. Roche’s late-stage pipeline comprises potential first-in-class or best-in-class medicines in the areas of cancer, metabolic and autoimmune diseases, and CNS disorders.
