The Sterilization Packaging Manufacturers Council (SPMC) of the Flexible Packaging Association has launched a Web site designed to increase its visibility in the U.S. medical device manufacturing industry and raise awareness for sterilization packaging in general. SPMC's site offers information about the organization, its individual members, industry news and information, and the development of SPMC test methods and guidance documents for the sterilization packaging of medical devices used in hospitals and other healthcare facilities. It also promotes the Sterilization Packaging Manufacturers Council Standards, a manual published yearly by the Flexible Packaging Association that includes SPMC's standard test methods, specifications, practices, and a guide for the design and evaluation of primary packaging for medical products.
