Three Companies in One

Turnkey solutions for customers are available through a corporate alliance.

A third company is now part of a supply agreement. The Filling Station and Qualis Packaging (both of Flemington, NJ) joined forces last April to supply small container filling and tube filling, among other services. The new partnership offers a combined 15 years of experience to customers.

Now, Le Papillon Ltd. (New Brunswick, NJ) is aboard, further strengthening customer offerings and adding another 35 years of experience to the team.

The agreement was formalized in 2008, when Qualis became a subsidiary of Le Papillon.

“There’s a lot of good synergy between our companies,” says Mark Russo, Le Papillon’s president. “We can deliver better products to our customers with the new relationship.”

The Qualis facility is CGMP-, FDA-, and OSHA-compliant and will increase the manufacturing capabilities of The Filling Station’s operations. Russo says this capacity has helped Le Papillon enter the pharma market.

“Because Qualis is FDA-approved, we can do OTC products,” Russo says. His company had previously focused on cosmetics but has gained new customers through this partnership. Russo says The Filling Station has helped Le Papillon produce differentiated products such as pharmaceuticals, and also brings new customers from the beauty market including Crabtree & Evelyn and Zirh.

“With me and all my equipment, it gives Qualis a chance to do tube filing, and essentially gives Le Papillon a wider range of products [with which] to reach out to customers,” says Chris White, president of The Filling Station.

“Originally, Le Papillon was more of a marketing company, then they’d ship to Qualis for manufacturing,” White says. This reduced shipping means reduced cost to customers.

“One of the biggest challenges is trying to eliminate freight,” White says. “When customers are buying glass, corrugate, etc., if they let Qualis do it they can reduce it 3–8% of their freight.”

A total turnkey solution is the goal of the three companies. White says customers can now come to one place for all their need, drawing in new clients with their one-stop approach and increasing convenience for the companies the partners already serve.
“We can do all of that,” White says. “We’re getting back into customer-
service based issues.” ■
