TCP Reliable and DDL Join Forces
The merger of TCP Reliable Inc. (Edison, NJ) and DDL (Eden Prairie, MN) creates a single provider for a broad spectrum of products and services for package development and testing. The merger gives customers the opportunity to consolidate package development and testing with one vendor. The companies will work together on specialized packaging for complex medical devices such as combination device and drug products, officials say.
DDL will operate as a wholly owned subsidiary while retaining its name and package testing products and services.
“The TCP and DDL combination offers a complete range of distribution packaging engineering services and solutions to the fast-growing medical device and biopharmaceutical segments of the healthcare industry,” says Maurice Barakat, president and CEO, TCP Reliable. Six company-owned sites in the United States and Canada will offer services, he adds.
In 2007, DDL launched Package Design, Development, and Prototyping Services, which include design, small-volume production, analysis for compliance to ISO 11607, and cold-chain packaging development.
Besides working jointly, the companies will refer customers to each other, officials say. “Our clients will be able to confidently consolidate their testing and manufacturing objectives, [with] a wider array of services,” says Patrick Nolan, chief operating officer, DDL.
“We can collaborate on the packaging of medical devices and substances that require sterile packaging and thermal control,” says Nolan.
