Sealed Air Unveils New Plant
Sealed Air Corp. (Duncan, SC) has opened a new global manufacturing facility for its medical products group. The 20,000-sq-ft plant, located in Duncan, is designed for production of the company’s line of pharmaceutical container materials and delivery systems in a cleanroom environment. Products to be produced at the new facility include the non-PVC Cryovac M312 flexible polyolefin film for pharmaceutical applications. The building is also designed to expand for anticipated growth in that line of films.
“This state-of-the-art facility is a commitment to Sealed Air’s medical products business and an investment in the Duncan community,” said Steve Schultz, vice president and general manager, global medical products for Sealed Air’s medical products group. “Products manufactured in this plant will supply markets throughout the world including Asia, Europe, and North America.”
Sealed Air’s medical products group develops containers for applications including parenteral nutrition, IV, irrigation, peritoneal dialysis, continuous ambulatory peritoneal dialysis, antibiotics, and specialty drugs. The company’s medical films are manufactured in a controlled environment to minimize exposure to airborne particles. The pharmaceutical-solution contact surface is only exposed to Class 100 filtered air, which is defined as less than 100 particles per cubic foot of air.
