Pump Enhances Cetaphil Brand

A new pump design for Cetaphil promotes measured dosing to prevent sun damage.

The Cetaphil brand has added a press tube pump to the new UVA/UVB Defense SPF 50 line of products. The new press tube pump became available March 1. The product was launched to fill a need for a facial moisturizer with a high SPF that is cosmetically acceptable while providing UVA and UVB coverage.

This facial moisturizer contains the highest SPF available specifically designed for the face. The new pump makes it more convenient to apply the proper amount of moisturizer and sunscreen to the face. According to Cindy Kee, senior group product manager, Cetaphil, Cetaphil cleansers and moisturizers are the No. 1 products recommended brand by dermatologists.

“We created the product, packaging, and materials on the package with the dermatology patient in mind,” Kee says. “Hydration and sun protection are important for individuals who are being treated for Rosacea, acne, and melasma. We worked with both consumer and professional agencies to promote the new SKU.”

Dermatologists recommend using a teaspoon of sunscreen to appropriately cover the entire face to protect against UV Rays. The new Cetaphil press pump design allows for a measured dose, which has the potential to help users apply the appropriate amount of sunscreen to prevent sun damage.

Cetaphil UVA/UVB Defense SPF 50 has micronized titanium dioxide, which absorbs quickly without leaving a white residue on the face.  It contains five physical and chemical blockers, including Titanium Dioxide, Octisalate, Oxybenzone, Octocrylene, and Octinoxate, to provide broad-spectrum UV coverage while having the added benefit of being a hydrating moisturizer. Cetaphil UV Defense SPF 50 has also been awarded the seal of approval from the Skin Cancer Foundation.

Galderma Laboratories (Fort Worth, TX) markets the Cetaphil line of products and is a pharmaceutical company that promotes prescription products for acne, rosacea, psoriasis, and pigmentary disorders to dermatologists and pediatricians. Therefore, all prescription products, as well as Cetaphil products, are manufactured under U.S. Food and Drug Administration pharmaceutical-grade conditions and guidelines. The company’s products are made with the highest quality ingredients under very strict production guidelines, while using the same quality standards for tubes and bottles.
