Multivac at WestPack
At this years WestPack show, which took place in Anaheim, CA, January 68, Multivac gave away samples of its card-backed contoured packaging. The company created the packages on its thermoform-fill-seal rollstock R530 packaging system.
According to Doug Slomski, director of the medical consumer and industrial division, the automated system produces high-volume, card-backed contoured packaging in virtually any size or shape with strong hanger holes and corners that wont bend. The machines use roll-fed plastic to make the blister and use sheet-fed card to make the backing, which is easily verified to prevent mismatched blister cards. Simple and quick changeover enables several products to be designed on only one machine with optional in-line printing and labeling. Placement of EAS tags can also be incorporated to prevent shoplifting.
The contoured packages can help improve production efficiency and give products a fresh look on store shelves.
