MD&M East and EastPack Continue Growth
Together, the two shows expand opportunities for packaging professionals.
For the second year, Medical Design & Manufacturing (MD&M) East and EastPack are teaming up to bring show attendees the latest equipment and supplies for their manufacturing and packaging needs.
The MD&M East show, which takes place June 2–4, 2003, at the Jacob K. Javits Convention Center in New York City, will once again offer the Medpak Pavilion, sponsored by PMP News. Attendees will have the chance to visit 120 leading suppliers of medical packaging equipment and supplies and see the latest innovations in high-speed fillers, dispensers, sealers, thermoformers, labeling and printing equipment, flexible pouches, barrier films, and more.
MD&M East registrants will also have access to the colocated EastPack show where they can access even more packaging equipment, supplies, and services. The Pharmaceutical and Nutraceutical Packaging Pavilion, also sponsored by PMP News, will feature specialty equipment as well as medical-grade materials and supplies, disposables packaging, trays and kits, blister packs, sterilization services, etc. Nutraceutical manufacturers will find everything they need for packaging vi-tamins and nutritional supplements.
In addition to the exhibits, attendees have access to a variety of packaging-related conference sessions. On Tuesday, June 3, George Wright IV of Product Identification & Processing Systems Inc. will chair the EastPack session on “Successfully Implementing HUD Blister Pack Bar Code Printing Using In-Line Flexographic Printing Systems.” Concurrently, MD&M East will hold a session chaired by Doug Stockdale of Stockdale and Associates on “Medical Packaging Design” and another on “Packaging Validation and Compliance.”

A two-piece oral-dosage dispenser has been added to the company’s special stocking program. The program provides for standard pricing of the oral dispenser and stocking of popular sizes so they will be available from inventory. The tip area of the plunger is an original one-piece design that uses a flexible wiper, eliminating the need for a rubber wiper. This design gives the dispenser a three-piece feel that makes it easy to use. The clarified barrel allows enhanced visual dosage monitoring to ensure accurate dosing. An automated package tester combines leak integrity tests with seal-strength tests, including burst, creep, and creep-to-failure tests. Porous pouches, trays, or blisters with materials such as Tyvek and paper barriers are particularly suited to these seal-strength tests. The tester is a high-resolution leak and flow tester featuring one- to four-channel concurrent or multiple channel sequential leak and flow testing. T.M.
