Cartoners
A company has expanded its range of cartoning machines. The Oystar IWK continuous-motion SC 8 and the Oystar IWK intermittent-motion SI 8 cartoning machines handle  large folding boxes with a width of up to 165 mm. While both machines are ideal for the pharmaceutical industry, they can be used in other industries as well. The machines can operate in continuous or intermittent motion with speeds up to 150 cartons per minute in sizes ranging from 40 × 20 × 65 mm to 165 × 75 × 230 mm. The flexibility of these machines allows them to be utilized for many diverse products and allows format changes within 20 minutes. Carton Inspection
An inline, high-speed vision and data acquisition system for folding cartons can inspect 100% of cartons as they enter the folder/gluer at speeds of up to 1000 ft/min. The new CartonSpec system determines whether every carton entering a folder/gluer meets printing and appearance specifications. It reads all standard bar codes for quality assurance that the carton and product data are in synch and match against database records for mass serialization. The system works with existing folders/gluers and is expected to lower carton inspection labor costs. CartonSpec was jointly developed for more than a year by Roberts PolyPro and Label Vision Systems (LVS; Peachtree City, GA); www.lvs-inc.com Roberts PolyPro, a division of Pro Mach, Charlotte, NC; www.robertspolypro.com.
