Industry Briefs

Multivac Inc. (Kansas City, MO) has opened a subsidiary company, Multivac Canada Inc. (Woodbridge, ON, Canada), just north of Toronto. All of Multivac’s sales and services for Canada will now operate out of the subsidiary office instead of the U.S. offices. The new office includes a product demonstration room and a spare-parts warehouse.

Comar Inc. (Buena, NJ) has sold its glass manufacturing operations to Gerresheimer’s Kimble Glass Inc. Kimble Glass makes tubular glass products in its facilities throughout North America. Comar will continue its manufacturing of glass pipettes to support its glass and plastic dropper assemblies. Glass-pipette manufacturing equipment and operations will be relocated to Comar’s plastic operations in Buena. Comar will invest its gains into its plastic drug-delivery components business. Comar’s General Manager Mike Ruggieri reports that “Comar is aggressively pursuing select acquisitions of specialty value–added injection molding companies serving the pharmaceutical and healthcare packaging segment.”

James Alexander Corp. (Blairstown, NJ) has completed an expansion to its facility, increasing the complex from 20,000 to more than 30,000 sq ft. The company expanded its existing facility so it wouldn’t have to move from the community it has been a part of since 1984. The company is a manufacturer and contract packager of unit-dose dispensing systems and unit-dose swabs, as well as glass ampules.
