HCPC Symposium on Patient Compliance
The Healthcare Compliance Packaging Council's (HCPC) 12th annual national symposium will be held May 4-5 in Philadelphia. The event begins with a presentation by Peter Mayberry, executive director, titled, An Overview of the Pharmaceutical Noncompliance Problem, Scope, and Impact in the United States and the World.
"Our program for May 4 will focus on issues associated with pharmaceutical noncompliance and the role that packaging can play in helping people take their medication properly," says Mayberry. "We expect to present results from the Ohio State University study that compares compliance for a specific antihypertensive drug when dispensed in a compliance-enhancing unit-dose format versus a cap-and-vial closure." HCPC's half-day program on May 5 will focus on anticounterfeiting issues.
The symposium will also present the 2003 Compliance Package of the Year Awards, as well as tabletop exhibits. For more information, visit www.unitdose.org, or call 703/538-4030.
