Customizing Tubes
Unit-dose and full-size tubes can dispense liquids, creams, and gels.
Tandem Tube
A company offers a large-diameter oval tube made of HDPE or MDPE with a fill capacity of 130–200 ml. The Tandem tube marries an upscale, cosmetic look with convenience and functionality. The tube coating may be gloss or satin, and the tube may be decorated with offset print, hot stamp, or silk screen. The bicolor cap finish is matte. The Tandem tube’s distinctive cap is compatible with a stock bottle and tottle from sister company Decoplast, a division of Techpack. This makes it easy for marketers to present an entire range of products with complete continuity across the line. Cebal Americas, Norwalk, CT; 203/845-6315; www.cebalamericas.com.
AMCO Poly Squeeze Tubes
Designed for sampling and unit-dose applications of liquids, gels, and creams, these tubes are injection molded from LLDPE or PP in two sizes: 2 and 4 cm3. They feature a tamper-evident tip, which, when broken or twisted off, exposes the nozzle opening. A push-on cap prevents premature breakage of the safety tip and also reseals a partially used tube. The tubes also feature a blemish-free surface with no parting lines. Decoration is by high-resolution silk screen ink printing around the circumference of the tube. When the tube is crimped, a front and back side of the artwork is formed, and a 3 ¼ x 1 ¼-in. registration mark above the active print area is required for filling. Andrew M. Martin Company, Inc., Gardena, CA; 310/323-2000.
Design-R Tube
A company supplies plastic squeeze tubes to the pharmaceutical industry. The Design-R tube and the #12 applicator tip are produced using low-density and high-density polyethylene and polypropylene resins. The Design-R tube features an eye-catching band of color between the sleeve and cap and can be provided in either gloss or matte finish. It also accepts a wide choice of cap styles. Plastic Ampules
Single-use plastic ampules are available in a variety of shapes and sizes, ranging from dropper tips and swabs to custom dispensers. The tubes consist of a one-piece molded polyethylene or polypropylene unit. They are activated by a gentle squeeze, which breaks the inner plastic membrane that seals in the contents prior to use. Another gentle squeeze dispenses the contents a drop at a time. The package features one-hand activation and dosing. James Alexander, Blairstown, NJ; 908/362-9266; www.james-alexander.com.
