Comar Offers Flexible Resource for Package Design
By David Vaczek
Comar Inc. (Buena, NJ) has launched a flexible program for companies outsourcing the design, testing, and commercialization of pharmaceutical, nutraceutical, and cosmetic plastic and glass packaging products. In the Solutions Resource program, clients can engage Comar during any of five stages in package development without committing to the entire process.
“We are providing a unique amount of flexibility, control, and freedom of choice for package design, testing, and commercialization, without the rigid process and hard cast ‘complete packaging agreement’ for which the industry is known,” says Dennis Paris, director of marketing.
“With this highly flexible service, the client controls all costs and the schedule or speed through each step of the process. They can also chose to have anyone outside of Comar manufacture their packaging solution. If Comar is selected as the manufacturer, the client can realize a 100% credit on all design costs,” says Paris.
System steps include needs assessment, production of 2-D and 3-D drawings, and SLA models, production tooling estimates, and functionality and material selection testing.
The client may then request a proposal for manufacturing and direct Comar to build production tooling. If desired, clients may request assistance with such secondary operations as IQ, OQ, PQ, sterilization validation, and stability confirmation.
